The operation targeted both major party presidential candidates, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, while also discussing other sensitive issues such as Israel’s invasion of Gaza, the rights of Latinx communities in the U.S., Venezuelan politics, and Scottish independence. Interestingly, the group also produced fashion and beauty content, which OpenAI suspects was an attempt to appear more authentic and build a following.
Despite these efforts, OpenAI reported that the operation failed to achieve significant engagement. Most of the social media posts generated by the group received little to no likes, shares, or comments, and there were no indications that the web articles were widely shared.
OpenAI emphasized that, although this operation did not succeed in garnering a meaningful audience, they take any attempts to use their services for foreign influence operations seriously.
