Hacker IntelBroker Allegedly Steals Apple’s Internal Tools

The notorious hacker known as IntelBroker, previously linked to high-profile breaches, has claimed responsibility for breaching Apple Inc. and stealing the source code of three internal tools: AppleConnect-SSO, AppleMacroPlugin, and Apple-HWE-Confluence-Advanced. The breach, allegedly occurring in June 2024, was announced on Breach Forums. Despite the severity, the stolen code does not impact Apple’s customers or their information.

AppleConnect-SSO is a single sign-on system allowing employees to securely access various applications within Apple’s network, integrated with the company’s Directory Services database. This system includes gesture-based login options and supports two-step verification and hardware tokens like YubiKey.

This claim follows IntelBroker’s recent announcement of a similar breach at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), where employee and product information was stolen. IntelBroker has a history of significant breaches, including a notable T-Mobile data breach. The hacker’s motives and affiliations remain unknown, but these incidents underscore the growing threat from sophisticated cybercriminals.

Apple has not yet commented on the alleged breach.
